Assistant Program Director

Salary: $33K - $42K DOE

Skills: Deliver high quality clinical and rehabilitative services to clients with substance abuse, psychiatric, and AIDS-HIV related disabilities. Must be able to perform and train staff in all aspects of Residential/Relief Counselor positions as follows: Perform intake interviews and assist with client treatment plan development, implementation and discharge planning. Assess the clinical needs of resident clients. Evaluate clients for potential crisis situations and determine appropriate intervention and management. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions as assigned. Monitor and document clients’ progress toward achievement of individual goals. Record clinical notes and hourly rounds to meet Medi-Cal standards and licensure requirements. Act as a role model - guiding clients and facilitating appropriate behavior about daily living skills, self-care, personal interaction, social relationships and constructive time management. Ensure that clients are linked with a primary care provider and assist with identifying and accessing community resources. Participate in staff and shift change meetings. Develops and maintains good working relationship with client referral sources and other related mental health, substance abuse and community service programs. Review for accuracy all client records and charts to ensure compliance with agency, Medi-Cal standards and licensure requirements. Set-up and coordinate staff work schedules. Coordinate the daily collection of client census data and reports as required. Responsible for overall management of residential household, maintaining a clean, pleasant environment which is in compliance with licensure standards. Assist clients with self-administered prescribed medications. Assists in the maintenance of accurate client fee records and collection. Maintain agency 30 hour per year staff development training requirement. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in behavioral health science or four years full time equivalent (8,320 hours) documented experience in a residential treatment setting may be substituted for the academic degree. Must have at least two (2) years experience working with adults with mental health/substance abuse/HIV-AIDS in a social rehabilitation treatment model; and one year experience providing leadership and managing staff. Previous experience compiling data, creating and distributing reports, and responding to governmental requests for information on a timely basis. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, clients and other providers both orally and in writing. Description: The Assistant Director supervises staff of an adult residential treatment program. The Assistant Director manages the flow of clients into and out of the program and advocates for and responds to clients’ treatment and rehabilitation needs. All Baker Places, Inc. services are provided from the philosophy of social rehabilitation, which integrates teaching daily living skills in a safe and healthy environment.

Program Director

Period: Regular Exempt Full-Time
Salary: $42K - $52K
Position ID: PDGSH
Skills: Program Directors are expected to bring sound professional judgment and a high degree of commitment to the position. Skill and knowledge in the areas of clinical, fiscal, personnel, and facilities management are essential. Ability to provide staff supervision and to model cultural competence in working with diverse populations on the issues of mental health, substance abuse and HIV, is essential.
Requirements: An understanding of and commitment to Social Rehabilitation is necessary. A Master's Degree in psychology, social work or another applicable discipline and one year experience working in a community mental health, residential treatment setting or a Bachelor's Degree in an applicable discipline with one year experience working in a community mental health, residential treatment setting is required. Experience may be substituted on a year for year basis in lieu of formal education. Minimum one year experience supervising personnel and budgetary issues in a clinical setting.
Description: The Program Director is charged with the daily oversight of services, personnel, facilities, budget and relations within the agency and between Baker Places and the community, as defined by the specific program mission. All these activities are expected to be conducted from a philosophy of social rehabilitation.
